Note: When considering your choice of yarn, do not be misled by the needle sizes below or by the gauge and needles recommended by yarn companies. This stitch pattern creates a very tight fabric that must be knit on larger needles than are typically used with sport weight. The sample yarn has a recommended needle size of US 2.5 – 4 (3-3.5 mm), and a gauge of 22 to 24 sts over 4” / 10 cm, but you’ll see that the pattern stitch gauge and needles listed are quite different for this project.
