The Forest Primeval
Long columns of lace represent the trees in the primeval forest of Longfellow’s “Tale of Acadie.” The trees grow in number as the rows lengthen, finally ending in a border of tree trunks and a seed stitch forest floor (think pine cones and acorns). The shawl ends with a picot bind-off which can be blocked into a scalloped edge.
This shawl can be made as a small shoulder cover, or as large as desired for a dramatic wrap. The lace is actually an easy-to-remember repeat.
“The Forest Primeval” is a sister to “Pearl Cascade” - purchasing one will give you the other as a free gift - just put it in your shopping cart and the price will be subtracted.
Models shown were made in Sport (the gray model) and in fingering weight (the green model, made by my talented friend Karen Rothman). The shawl can be made in any weight from DK down to Lace.
