MATERIAL— Columbia Worsted Knitting Yarn (according to a chart from 1948 this yarn is 4 oz skein - about 280 yards/skein)

2 Bone or Rubber Knitting Needles No. 2
2 Steel Knitting Needles No. 14

Cardigan with a squared Hempstead stitch pattern and a rib stitch waist.

Construction:
Beginning with the back. Working from the waist up, at shoulders divide for each front, continuing working the fronts top down to the waist.
Then you work the rib band at the waist (you might want to skip some of the decreases/increases if you don’t have a corset waist) and bottom part in the Hempstead stitch pattern. Sleeves and collar are knitted separately.
