The Hill House Scarf
by Susan Hanlon
The scarf was inspired by the high-back chairs designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for The Hill House, the house which he designed and furnished for the publisher Walter Blackie. The scarf is double-knit, making it completely reversible and extra cosy.
The pattern requires a total of 440 yards of yarn, 220 yards in each of two colours.
For the squares to be square when the scarf is finished, your blocked gauge needs to have a 4:6 stitches to row ratio.
You can read more about the inspiration for this design at the designer’s blog.
