The Holidayer hat was inspired by my love of winter holidays: Hot chocolate, eggnog, big family dinners, christmas lights, snowy mountains …I wanted to make a go to cozy hat that I would love to wear all winter.

The Holidayer hat is knit with soft chunky yarn and large cables. It’s a quick and fun knit and would be a perfect hat for beginner knitters who want to delve into cabling. It’s a written pattern with a pattern key for all the abbreviations.

There are three sizes: Small (18-20 inch), Medium (21-22 inch), and Large (23 inch)

The gauge in stockinette stitch on US size 10 (6mm) needles is 14sts/19rows = 4 inches.
The gauge in the pattern is 21sts/24 rows = 4 inches.

Since this hat is knit using chunky yarn, having a gauge that is a little off may cause a large variation in the size of the finished hat. If you feel that your hat is turning out too large or small then I recommend going up or down needle sizes to obtain gauge, or knitting up or down one size in the pattern.

The yardage for the hat is approximately 130 yards for the small size, and up to 220 yards for the large size including the yarn needed for the pompom. If you are using a faux fur pompom then you will not need as much yarn.
