February. The second month of the year, the month of Valentine’s day. And, if you live in the south of the Netherlands and certain parts of Belgium and Germany: Carnaval, Vastelaovend or Karneval. If you live around here, there is no escaping it. Three days filled with loads of colours. That, and the Joker from a deck of playing cards, was the inspiration for this pattern ten years ago. A playful little sock meant to be knit with the most colourful yarn you have got. And bells, off course. You cannot have a fool’s hood without bells!
It is a real springtime or summer sock (just above the ankle) with a lovely ruffled cuff and an easy lacy pattern with bells. If you celebrate carnaval, wear them over some black tights. They will certainly stand out then.
So, go through your stash, get the most colurful skein of 4-ply sockyarn you have and start knitting.

You will also need: 6 little bells (or 12 if you are going to knit the patterns on both the inside and the outside of the leg. If you do not want to add bells, the pattern has a little 3 stitch nupp included in the instructions as a substitute.

Size: M (European 36/37 & 38/39 or U.S.6/7 & 8/9) and L (European size 40/41 & 42/43 or U.S. 10/11). The socks can easily be made larger. Instructions on how to knit a different size heel turn are included.

Februari. De tweede maand van het jaar, de maand van Valentijnsdag en als je in het zuiden des lands woont: Carnaval of Vastelaovend. Als je hier woont, ontkom je er niet aan, of je het nu leuk vindt of niet. Drie dolle dagen met heel veel kleur. Dat en de joker van een pak speelkaarten waren 10 jaar geleden de inspiratie voor de Jokersokken. Een leuk speels sokje bedoeld om met lekker bonte wol gebreid te worden. Mét belletjes, want wat is een narrenkap zonder belletjes!
Dit is een echt lente- / zomersokje dat net boven de enkels komt. Met een leuk ruche omslagboordje en een eenvoudig ajourpatroon mét belletjes. Vier je carnaval, draag ze dan eens over een zwarte maillot of legging, dan vallen ze lekker op. Zoek je meest bonte streng 4-draads sokkenwol uit je stash, dit is daar hét patroontje voor.

Verdere heb je 6 kleine belletjes nodig (12 als je het patroon op beide zijden van de voet gaat breien). Mocht je geen belletjes willen gebruiken, dan staan er instructies in het patroon voor kleine nopjes van 3 steken als vervanging.

Maatje: M (36/37 & 38/39), met aanpassing voor maatje L (40/41 & 42/43). Je kunt het oatroon eenvoudig aanpassen naar een grotere maat. In het patroon staat wat je moet doen als je een andere maat hielflap en kleine hiel wilt breien.
