The Knitters Code
The Knitters Code is your key to the knitting community.
When you wear this scarf, you will be instantly identifiable as a knitter to everyone. Knitters and non-knitters alike will want to know more about it.
You will become “One of Us”, and we hope that you will join in the fun and friendship that is the knitting community.
The code is in the pattern. The colours and stitches used in the different sections indicate techniques and items that you have knit/learned. As one astute knitter noted, it is like merit badges for knitters!
There are eight colours that indicate techniques and items (short rows, brioche, stranded knitting, hats, mitts, cardigans, etc.) and the stitch types (ribbing, textured, cabled, or lace) indicate the stitch type you used on the item.
Knit a cabled hat? There is a code for that!
This scarf is a way to show what you can/have done to other knitters, and what better way to meet a new knitting friend than talking about knitting? There is also a The Knitters Code group, where you can ask questions, show photos of all your projects, and see how other knitters view the knitting community.
Can you become a Code Master?
