The long and winding row
There are stitch counts for fingering/sock to worsted/aran.
Suitable for an advanced beginner, but looks more complex.
Only 2 stitches used:
knit
slip
that’s it - no purling .
This is basically all one row - you just keep knitting in the round, repeating the 5-stitch repeat over and over.
It’s a love it or hate it type of thing as to whether you find that boring or relaxing … (all of the testers seemed to love it - several of them started a second one right away).
One way to keep the excitement level high, is to choose a yarn that will give you fabulous effects - it’ll keep you knitting just to see what will happen next.
Then you’ll have a soothing knitting technique with yarny excitement ( that’s the way I like to knit - relaxed knitting, but a striking result)
A great take-along project - you won’t need to take a pattern and you can put it down and pick it up any time.
Yarn types you could choose:
handspun
self-striping
variegated (particularly space dyed)
gradient
striping 2 yarns (can even be 2 slightly different weights)
semi-solid (not so exciting to knit, but a nice subtle effect)
