Friendship, love, and joy are the words woven into this whimsical shawl. It’s designed in collaboration with Little Skein’s line of knitting kits influenced by children’s novels, and is inspired by Charlotte’s Web, a beautiful story about finding love, growing up, and saying goodbye.

The delicate spiderweb lines are made with slipped stitches, as is the two-color section meant to evoke Charlotte’s 514 children ballooning in the wind. This creates a beautiful stitch pattern without the need to work two strands of yarn at a time.

The shawl is knit down and out from the center of the top edge, with increases at the center and sides. It’s finished with a garter stitch border.

Knit in a brilliantly dyed hue from Sunshine Yarns, it makes a lovely gift for yourself, or to show your gratitude to a loved one. As Charlotte told Wilbur: ’You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.’
