The Mayor's Christmas Sweater
A few years ago I got the most ridiculous request to knit a Christmas sweater for a charity project that was to be launched two days later. Since I’m completely mad, have a soft heart and absolutely adore the (then) mayor of Reykjavík, Jón Gnarr, who was to receive and model the sweater I said yes I knit the yoke top down and used a machine to knit the body and sleeves flat, seamed them together and Kitchenered to the yoke. Then I blinged it up just in the nick of time for the photo shoot!!! Fun… but NEVER AGAIN
The pattern however doesn’t have the shortcuts described above, it’s a quick knit regardless and of course a fun project since you can bling it up to your liking!
The sweater is knit from the neckline down. The sweater is worked seamlessly in the round. The top-down construction allows you to decide and adjust the length of the body and arms as you go. Start by casting on the neckline, knit the yoke, divide the stitches into body and sleeves, finish knitting the body and end by knitting the sleeves. At the end you only need to weave in a few ends, wash and block and add all the bling your heart desires :)
