The Mists of Imladris
The Last Homely House east of the Sea was “as Bilbo had long ago reported, ‘a perfect house whether you like food or sleep or story telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all.’ Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear, and sadness.” To tell the truth, the yarn was a huge deciding factor in the design process of this garment, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I love the colors and the texture, and it’s rather difficult to find a self-striping lace yarn with such long color changes. But as I contemplated lace patterns, I wanted something as simple as Biblo’s wonderful songs, and as complex and beautiful as Elrond’s long history. I think this is a nice blend of both. And of course, it had to be comfortable and “homely.”
Skill Level: Intermediate; some familiarity with lace stitches and beading would be helpful
Yarn: Approximately 400-430 yards / 370-400 m of lace yarn. The scarf pictured uses Freia Handpaint Yarns, Flux Lace (75% wool, 25% nylon) in the colorway Sea Glass. I strongly recommend either a self-striping or gradient yarn, as the pattern will show these off nicely

Tools: A beading method of your choice, 2 stitch markers
Needles: US4 (3.5mm) circular needle
Gauge: 22 stitches and 28 rows per 4 inches / 10cm in the Scarf pattern, when blocked.Gauge is not essential for this project, but changing the gauge will change the finished measurements. *
Sizing: One size measuring 6.5 inches by 60 inches or 16.5cm by 152.5cm
