The Peekabow dress is a modern twist on the 1950’s classic circle dress; that will no doubt be a staple in your handmade wardrobe all year round. I think this would look especially cute in dare I say… Christmas colours! especially with that bow!
I’m a believer in the mantra ’look good, feel good’ which I believe relates to our inner well-being as well as our appearance - so in order to feel good both in and out, I have to be comfortable.
So when I began my designer journey, this is one of the goals I set myself - to design garments that are size inclusive, promote body positivity, and to help build our self-confidence in both our appearance and skill, whilst remaining comfortable, flattering and stylish for everyBODY.
It is written in US TERMS and is suited for advanced beginners. The pattern is written in a recipe-like style. and is made to your own measurements - using the formula and size guide provided. Detailed notes can be found throughout the pattern to walk you through, step-by-step to make the perfect flouncy, fitted dress!
The dress is entirely customisable and gives you free reign - to make sure you have sufficient hip, bust and/or back room.
It is begun by working the waistband, followed by the skirt section, then the front and back panels. The dress is then finished off with a big bow and corset-like lace.
It uses a 4.5mm hook, and worsted weight yarn - the yardage will entirely depend on the size you make but you’d approximately need between 800-2000yrds for a dress that is around mid-thigh to knee length. Or feel free to make it a tunic, mini dress or even an elegantly long maxi dress, let the creativity bloom!
Happy hooking!
All of my patterns are tested by crocheters and/or designers to ensure the best and clearest instructions are presented to you!
Please note: Any yarns may be used other than the ones listed, crocheting should be an affordable hobby, so use what is easily available to you, just remember to check your gauge.
