The Perfect Beanie
For a long time, I have been working on designing a beanie. This design is the result.
It had to look good, be warm and useful for every occasion and weather situation, and it had to fit perfectly.
You have a choice of two different looks for the crown of your beanie, and of course you can customize the length too to make sure this beanie will be 110% perfect for you.
Happy knitting!
Size: Onesize
Circumference: 48 – 58 cm
Height: Ca. 20 cm plus 7 cm folded brim. Total
height is ca. 27 cm.
Yarn
This design is knitted with two strands of yarn
held together.
Pernilla from Filcolana is 100% wool, 50 gr. =
175m.
Alva from Filcolana is 100% alpaca, 25 gr. = 175m
Tilia from Filcolana is 70% super kid mohair, 30%
mulberry silk, 25 gr. = 210 m
The beanie is knitted with one strand of Pernilla
and one strand of either Alva or Tilia.
Yarn amounts
50 gr. Pernilla
25 gr. Alva or Tilia
A yarn alternative is 50 gr. Falkland merino and
25 gr. Soft silk alpaca (both from Knitwedo).
The beanie can also be knitted using other yarns
of similar weight (175 m/50 gr) held together
with a thinner yarn (175-210 m/25 gr.)
Needles and notions
Circular needles 4 mm (40 cm)
Double pointed needles 4 mm (or a circular needle (80/100 cm) for magic loop)
4 stitch markers or loops of brightly colored yarn
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
25 sts x 24 rounds = 10 x 10 cm in twisted ribbing
on 4 mm needles.
The swatch was knitted in the round and washed
before measuring.
