Bobbies, Peelers, The Fuzz, The Filth, Coppers, The Old Bill, Bow Street Runners or the Boy and Girls in Blue. Call them what you will London’s Police Force are a handy verbal A-Z, an amused but disapproving eye when you’re hanging precariously off the neck of a Trafalgar Square lion, and a slap on the wrist for the city’s wrongdoers.
While you knit a woolly bringer of the law you can practice lines such as “You’re nicked, mah son!” and “You’re goin’ dahn tahn, ya toe-rag!” to add East London authenticity.
The Police, complete with hats and walkie talkies, are two of four Little Londoners in the Stitch London book.
