Fine details make these otherwise basic hats special! For her, a pretty ruched edge on a cloche-style hat; for him, a no-nonsense watchcap with understated couture detailing (he will probably want it in black). Both are double-layered around the ears for extra warmth, with a worked-in hem that requires no extra finishing. What lovely gifts these would make during the colder months! Worsted weight yarn means the knitting will go fairly quickly, and also gives you so many choices for yarn.

This is a Beyond-Beginner level pattern. Most of the stitches are straightforward and simple. The hem detail is a little bit tricky, so the pattern includes extra photos to help you out.
