The Shoreline Shawl
The Shoreline Shawl is the result of a sheep to shawl presentation I gave to a women’s group. My social media following watched the progress, from combed top to finished shawl and wanted the pattern to be available. I was excited to have a KAL and with the help of Tabbethia from Long Island Yarn and Farm, we put together our first KAL. My hope is that you enjoy your beautiful shawl and rejoice in the community that is for all fiber lovers.
MATERIALS
Yarn:
Long Island Yarn and Farm fingering
400yards 365.7 m 125 grams
Color used: A Mother’s Love
White Picket Fence
Needles (suggested size):
US 8 5 mm in 16” 40 cm and 32” 81cm lengths. The 32” length will be used for back and forth knitting and will accommodate many stitches.
Optional: US 8 5 mm double pointed needle (used for the lace section)
Gauge:
18 sts and 25 rows over 4” 10 cm before blocking. Notice that the gauge is BEFORE blocking, simply knit a swatch that is 20 or so stitches and at least 25 rows, and see if you come close to these numbers.
Notions:
Stitch markers, darning needle, blocking pins and/or wires.
Yardage:
Yardage is estimated and may vary depending on yarn used, fiber content of yarn and any modifications to the original pattern (such as texture work or lace).
MC: 800 yards
732 meters
