It’s summer and everyone is playing in the water. My neighbors have a pool, which they seem to re-discover every day when it is hot outside! I would rather be in Galveston, of course ~ taking in the sea air, and strolling along The Strand that has shops, restaurants, and a vintage ice cream parlor. I have a new duo of shawls, Water Play ~ one is a bias knit design for those who love pools ~ Waterpark, and the other is a right triangle for those who love beach towns ~The Strand.
The Strand
Galveston has a rich victorian history. There you can tour homes that withstood the great hurricane, such as Bishop’s Palace. The lace pattern I used for this design has a romantic feel and reminded me of those homes and the people that lived there in the early 1900s. The shawl is a right triangle, with the lace pattern panel placed off center on the bottom edge. You can make it any size, and work either from charts or the full written instructions. Use any yarn weight up to light worsted, just be sure to adjust your yarn requirements accordingly. This design should be blocked firmly (I used a blocking wire on the bound off edge.)
Materials used for sample (weighs 130g):
Coop Knits Socks Yeah
3 skeins Topaz
a row counter is helpful for this pattern
