THE STUART HAT
Somehow the combination of commercial sock yarn and conventional heel stitch instantly evoke the feeling of Stuart. The Stuart Hat is practical on so many levels. The style is unisex. The hemmed brim keeps the ears toasty warm. The fit is forgiving. The yarn is dead easy to substitute. And yet, despite all these basic elements, there’s still something kind of special about Stuart. Dependable, earnest Stuart and his simple fitted beanie. What’s not to love?
Stuart is 1 of 9 Hats from The Big Bang Collection, inspired by the iconic TV sit-com.
YARN
Yarn is held double throughout (ie. knit with two strands of yarn at the same time). You’ll need approximately 370 yds (340 m) of sock yarn or other fingering-weight yarn.
Original Version (Blue Tweed) shown in Rico Design Superba Tweed 4-Ply.
Grey Version shown in two random balls of leftover fingering weight yarn from my personal stash.

FIND YOUR PERFECT FIT
The stitch & round multiples on which The Stuart Hat is based are now included in the pattern. For less experienced knitters who want to make a different size, the math is now provided. More experienced knitters can use this same information to make decisions about yarn substitution, gauge etc. I hope this helps empower you to understand your knitting better and to find your perfect fit!
