The Sun Also Rises
Is it a shawl …. a throw … a unique wall hanging? You CHOOSE!
This beauty is a pleasure to knit … wear … display! I designed this for my daughter’s dear friend who is getting married – she is from Phoenix so doesn’t need a heavy shawl or throw so this should be just perfect since this lace item works up light as a feather, and using lifelines often, it grows quickly from the initial 8sts to over 650!
The sample shown uses Cozy Colorwork’s hand-dyed superwash merino with a whopping 550 yds per skein – Marshmallow (the center) uses approx. 430yds, Brick (mid-round) uses approx. 450 yds and the Spruce edging uses about 400 yards to finish off. Directions include charted and written directions!
• This design starts in the center with 8 sts, joined into a tight circle, and worked in the round throughout
• The rhythm of the center ribbed lace design is easily memorized and goes quickly; then rounds of stockinette only (while continuing the increases); finished with a traditional feather-and-fan in garter.
• The directions are charted and written out, round-by-round.
• Block “hard” to pop the points of the “sun” and make the lace really pop
