The first time you slip a thimble on your finger, it feels awkward, like something borrowed from another time. A miniature silver suit of armour: strange, unfamiliar, a little cumbersome. But like turning the heel of a sock for the first time, learning to wear a thimble when you sew is worth the battle.

Some thimbles find their way to us tucked in the bottom of a sewing basket, picked up at a jumble sale or inherited from someone who made beautiful things with their hands. Others we choose carefully, testing and trying until one feels just right. And once you find a thimble that fits, and give yourself a little time to practice, it becomes second nature. It moves with you. It feels like an extension of your own finger.

The Thimble Socks are knit in cosy DK weight yarn. Quick to make, cosy to wear, and just right for gifting. Cheerful bobbles dot the leg like the dimples on a well-loved thimble, and playful stripes invite you to mix and match colours from a mini skein set, a yarn advent calendar, or those DK scraps you’ve been waiting to use up. With a twisted rib cuff, slipstitch heel, and rounded toe, these socks offer a snug, familiar fit – and all the comfort of something made by hand, for someone you care about. Maybe that someone is you.
