Third Coast Cardi
The Third Coast Cardigan is worked in one piece from the bottom back, up over the shoulders, then down the front. Beginning with a provisional cast on that will later become the bottom hem, the body is shaped with increases to the full width from forearm to forearm. The incorporated sleeves are worked horizontally, then the shaping is worked in reverse to the original cast-on number of stitches. The piece is folded and seamed to create the sleeves, then the collar, bottom hem, and deep cuffs are added.
This loose fitting, drapey cardigan is intended to fit and flatter a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The body length, sleeve fit, and collar width are all easily adjusted within any specified size, and instructions how to do so are included. I recommend choosing a size based on your bust, and making adjustments as necessary or desired.
This project features my favorite cable stitch, and you can even work it without a cable needle (see Special Stitches instructions on last page)! If you fall in love with the gentle rhythm of this stitch pattern, as I have, be sure to check out my Third Coast Socks, Third Coast Cowl, and Third Coast Pullover. I’m obsessed!
I’ve added “O”s at the end of any rows or sections that are repeated - use them to check off the rows or repeats as you go.
