In Norse mythology, “the Norns” were three women, incidentally spinners, who determined life spans. One spun the thread of life, another measured the length, and the third decided when the thread should be cut. This cowl gives a nod to the three fates who lived there, and to the intricate and complex patterns of the Norse.

Yarn: Wonderland Yarns “Mad Hatter” sport weight, 100% superwash merino, 344 yds, 4 oz: 1 skein. Shown in colorway “Banshee“

Needles & Notions: US 6/4mm needles, 16”/40cm circular needles, or your preference for working in the round, cable needle, stitch marker, darning needle, (optional: scrap yarn for provisional cast-on)

Gauge: 20 sts/29 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch check before blocking. Note: This cowl uses the full skein, so it is important to get the proper gauge to insure you don’t run out of yarn.

Measurements: 24” around and 15.5” tall after blocking
