Yarn is 4 ply or fingering weight and requirements are given in grams only:

  • The large penguin requires 60 grams of black yarn and 40 grams of white yarn.
  • The small penguin requires 20 grams of black yarn and 20 grams of white.
  • The chick requires “one ball of 4 ply grey fluffy or random yarn” for the body and “a small amount of 4 ply charcoal grey yarn” for the head.

The pattern includes instructions for a large penguin, small penguin, and chick. The yarn is held doubled for the large penguin, and used single-stranded for the small penguin and chick.

The instructions are written, with no gauge listed. Pieces are all knit flat. Schematics for the felt pieces (beak, feet, eyes) are included.
