Thrumola
When the weather turns cold, your ears need more than just coverage — they deserve Thrumola! This jaunty headband uses a traditional knitting technique called thrumming at the ears to keep you toasty. A time-honored practice from Newfoundland and Labrador, thrumming incorporates lengths of fleece into the knit to create unbeatable warmth.
Thrumola is January 2026’s Lola’s Choice kit and includes everything you need to make it! There are still a few kits left… so SIGN UP NOW if you want to thrum too!
Thrumola is worked flat and seamed at the back, with fat cables at the crown for a decorative touch. The shaped ear muffs are the answer if the question is, “How do I keep my dang ears warm?” This headband has you covered — literally.
Were you luckly enough to snag a Lola’s Choice kit? The kits come with 1 skein of my cushy Lambola yarn made from a blend of highland wool and alpaca - basically 100% wool polar fleece. It is paired with thrums made in the uber soft Malabrigo Nube (100% Merino wool) in a vibrant color that makes little hearts with each thrum! One kit makes at least two headbands (maybe more!), so you can keep one and gift one. How’s that for a kit full of love and learning?
Never Thrummed Before? No problem. I made you a full-length video tutorial to show you how!
