Because in Shakespeare’s day to “die” was slang for an orgasm, this is perhaps the sexiest death scene written. Juliet’s own dying speech is not without innuendo as well, when she claims “O happy dagger, this is thy sheath.” Nevertheless, the deaths of all the young people in this play highlight, for me, the devastation that the older generation has wrought with its longstanding hatred. The truce at the end of the story rings false with no future generations to carry it forward. And this truly is a tragedy.

Materials: approx. 375-410 yds (340-375 m) of sock yarn. The socks pictured are a size M, and used 395 yds of Freia “Sock” in the color Cochinilla
Needles: US1 (2.25mm) sock needles
Tools: Cable Needle, 2 stitch markers, tape measure, scissors, and tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Sizing: Small (Medium, Large) socks measure 7(8,9) inches or 18(20.25, 23) cm in circumference, leg height, ankle depth, and foot length are all adjustable to fit and preference.
Gauge: 8 stitches and 12 rounds per inch (2.5cm) in stockinette stitch.
