The decorative details of the Art Nouveau movement, particularly the leaded glass windows of Louis Comfort Tiffany, inspired this design. Here, organic shapes and geometric lines combine to form this delicate and graceful accessory. Whether worn with a jacket, overcoat, or dress, this striking lace scarf is sure to leave an impression.

Though it might look to be made of joined motifs, this scarf is actually crocheted in one piece in the round. Working outward from both sides of a foundation chain, a variety of strategically placed tall stitches, chain loops, and shells combine to form motif-like square panels. Finally, an exquisite border is added made with simple mesh and elegant picot-adorned shells and fans.

Using a wide variety of stitches in an uncommon construction, this is an entertaining project for the intermediate crocheter. It’s also an excellent way to showcase a beautiful hand-dyed yarn.

Yarn Notes:
• Model shown required nearly all yardage. Working a gauge swatch prior to stitching scarf is highly recommended. Depending on your gauge, you may need to purchase an additional hank or unravel the swatch to complete this project.
• Hand-dyed yarns like Malabrigo have subtle shifts in color that may vary between hanks. When using hand-dyed yarn in your project, work two rounds from one hank and two rounds from another to give an overall blended effect.
