“A tiger doesn’t proclaim his tigritude, he pounces” –Wole Soyinka.

Created in honor of the Year of the Tiger, this sleeveless top features an all-over mosaic-knit tiger stripe pattern, and can be worn on its own, or layered over another top or blouse as a vest. It has gentle waist shaping, created by changing knitting needle sizes (to avoid interrupting the mosaic pattern with increases and decreases), and a flattering front scoop neck.

Mosaic knitting, created by Barbara Walker, is a fun and easy alternative to stranded knitting, because only one color of yarn is used on each round; stitches of the other color are slipped.

Skill level: Intermediate; skills include mosaic knitting, reading a chart, working in the round, decreasing, short row shoulder shaping, picking up stitches for edgings, and 3-needle bind off.

Yarn Light #3 (DK) weight, Main Color (MC) 315 (365, 420, 475) (535, 590, 650) yd/290 (335, 385, 435) (490, 545, 600) m; Contrast Color (CC) 260 (300, 345, 390) (435, 485, 535) yd/240 (275, 315, 355) (400, 445, 490) m.75) (535, 590, 650) yd/290 (335, 385, 435) (490, 545, 600) m.
