TILIA is a soft, cabled hat with a double brim that’s folded, so you will have three fabric layers to keep your ears extra warm and cozy. The generous deep brim, rich texture and snug fit make it the perfect accessory for outdoor adventures. It is worked bottom-up, in the round, from the brim to the crown.

The pattern includes both written and charted directions.

Sizes 1 (2, 3)
Finished Measurements: 16.5 (18.75, 20.75)″ / 42 (47.5, 52.5) cm circumference; to fit a head circumference of 20 (22, 24)″ / 51 (56, 61) cm with approx. 3″/ 7.5 cm negative ease.
Sample shown in size 3 on a 23″ / 58.5 cm head.

Yarn
2 (2, 3) skeins of Filcolana Pernilla (100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 175 m per 50 g) held together with 1 strand = 2 (2, 2) skeins of Filcolana Tilia (70% Kid Mohair/30% Silk, 210 m per 25 g).
Sample shown in Pernilla colorway 814 Storm Blue and Tilia colorway 342 Arctic Blue.

Or approx. 300 (350, 410) m / 330 (380, 450) yds of a heavy fingering or sportsweight wool yarn held together with approx. the same amount of a lace weight Silk-Mohair.

Or the same amount of a DK weight yarn if working with a single strand.

Needles
Size A for main fabric: one 16″/ 40 cm or longer circular needle or DPNs in size needed to obtain gauge listed. Suggested size: US 6 / 4.0 mm.
Size B for ribbing: one 16″/ 40 cm or longer circular needle or DPNs two sizes smaller than Size A. Suggested size: US 4 / 3.5 mm.
Change to DPNs or working Magic Loop with longer circular needles when necessary. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Additional Tools
Additional Size B circular needle for provisional cast on, 1 stitch marker, cable needle, blunt tapestry needle.

Techniques
Required Techniques: Judy’s Magic Cast On or other provisional cast on method of choice, cable knitting, decreasing.

Gauge
27 stitches & 32 rows = 4″/ 10 cm in Ribbing with Size B needles, after blocking.
2 Cable Repeats of 28 sts should measure 3.75″/ 9.5 cm with Size A needles, after blocking
