Tilney Socks
Elegant socks for a gentleman inspired by the kind and sensible hero of Northanger Abbey, Henry Tilney.
Cuff down mens socks with an interesting but sensible ribbing pattern on the front of the sock and twisted travelling-stitch diamond pattern down the centre of the back of the leg - reminiscent of a stocking seam
The rib pattern continues on to the toe and the heel flap.
Errata: Size 9 3/4”
The heel flap for row 1, should be Sl1 pwise wyf, p2, k2, p1tbl, k1 2 times, p1tbl, k2, p3, k2, p1tbl, k1 2 times, p2tbl, k1, p1tbl 2 times, k2, p3, k2, p1tbl, k1 2 times, p1tbl, k2, p3.
After the toe set up for this size: 88 sts remain.
After the toe decreases are complete 24 sts remain, 12 sts on each of 2 needles.
2-The toe counts are wrong. After the Gusset, it says to decrease until needle 1 has 45 sts, and needle 2 and 3 have 22. That makes 89 in total. When you get to the toe, it states to decrease by 1 on the pattern sts and knit the other two needles. This makes 88 sts. However, it says you should have 86. When you go to decrease for the toe, it says to do the two rows, then repeat 15 times, which will get you to 22 sts. Because of the original miscalculation, you would actually have 24 sts.
