I have updated this pattern with a new version in 2022. The new version has amended pockets as well as buttonholes on the shawl collar. If you wanted to knit it as shown here without the buttons then just omit the buttonhole rows on the pattern.

If you have the original book there is an errata in this pattern.
The instruction for the Pocket Placement row on the Right Front are missing some figures.
It should read:
Pocket Placement row: k9(15:21:21:21),
