Timber Scarf
A whimsical tree scarf that looks like half of a pine tree. Knit the tree first. Then rotate the scarf, cast on for a trunk, pick up stitches along the long edge and knit a tree trunk and spine. The pattern is written for worsted or Aran weight yarn with a size 8 (5 mm) 24” long circular knitting needle. You will need 200-250 yards of green for the tree and 40-50 yards of brown for the trunk. (Or substitute two colors or your choice.) Finished size using 250 yards of green and 50 yards of brown is 45” long x 16” wide at the widest part (unblocked). Blocking is optional. Feel free to decorate the finished scarf with beads, stars, pompoms, and ornaments to your hearts content. :-) You can use any weight of yarn to knit this scarf by choosing a needle size to suit the yarn you choose. The amount of yarn you will vary depending on weight of yarn you use.
