Lines of stockinette stretch and lengthen between rows of garter stitch in this highly textural shawl. When the Time Dilation shawl begins at one tip, the stockinette dashes are only two rows deep. By the time this asymmetrical shawl reaches its far edge, the interwoven dashes have gradually stretched to twelve or more rows. Easy and entertaining to knit, this project is perfect for showing off solids and gradients alike.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl.

A note on sizing: The pattern offers two sets of instructions to make a small, one-skein version and a larger, two-skein project. It is very easy, however, to adapt the pattern to the amount of yarn available. Knitters may choose to repeat any of the charts more or fewer times than the pattern calls for to adjust the length of the shawl.

The instructions are both written and charted.
