Timeless Bucket Hat
Oh, this old green hat. Sigh…..it is one of my prized possessions.
This hat is one of the few items I have that was crocheted by my paternal grandmother Katherine or her daughter Mary in 1970. It was given to me by my Aunt Donna and I love this hat. I’m not positive which one of them made this hat, so I am crediting both of them. They are long gone, but I think of them every time I pick up a hook.
Mike, Ricky and I always fight over the green hat , so I decided to make them each their own, so that they would leave the green one for me lol. I made a white one for Ricky, and am working on a green and white striped one for Mike. I even whipped up a pink plaid one for myself! It’s a very versatile pattern, you can change colors as often as you like, or stick to one color. Everyone keeps asking what kind of yarn the original hat is made of. I think it is Red Heart Super Saver, and it has held up GREAT. Aunt Donna said that was pretty much all that they used besides cotton.
I think this could easily be made for a child with a 3.5 mm hook following the pattern.
