’To The Lighthouse’ is an open fronted lace cardigan with positive ease, wide sleeves and no waist shaping. The geometric lace pattern radiates out from the central line to call to mind the beams of a lighthouse in an Art Deco style. The pattern also creates gentle pleats which help the cardigan to skim the curves of the body without the need for shaping. The body of the cardigan is knitted flat and pieced together, with the sleeves created using a provisional cast on, being knit on to the sleeve cap as the sleeve is knitted and then grafted together.

Lace worked from a chart or written instructions including yarn overs and decreases using knit two together and slip, slip, knit; seaming using mattress stitch; provisional cast on
Tools and materials
Yarn: Blacker Yarns Tamar Lustre Blend 4ply in Tala Water 4 (4, 5, 6, 6) skeins or 1100 (1370, 1530, 1845, 2020)m of yarn to achieve tension required.
3mm straight needles of at least 30cm length, stitch markers, Approximately 50cm/ 20ins waste yarn and a spare needle for provisional cast-on, tapestry needle, stitch markers, blocking mat and t-pins.
Tension:

Fits with around 10-15cm (4-6 in) positive ease, taking the ‘pleating’ effect of the lace pattern into account- model wears sample size 2, is a UK size 12, and a slightly long-waisted 5’7” tall.
