This straightforward design offers endless possibilities for playing with your yarn stash. Ideal for beginner knitters and easily adaptable to all sizes and weights.

With its double-layer construction, your noggin will stay toasty all day!

The hat is knitted in two parts. Start by making a provisional cast-on and knitting the outer layer of the hat on the larger needles. Once that’s complete, undo the provisional cast on and place the stitches back onto the needle to knit the inner layer with the smaller needles. After knitting, tuck the inner layer inside the outer layer, then sew the edges together to create a four-sided shape. For the sample, I used DK merino superwash for the outer layer and brushed mohair for added warmth on the inside, finishing the edges with a touch of fantasy ribbon yarn.

There are videos to help with provisional cast on and magic loop if you’re using circular needles.

The pattern is easily adaptable to all sizes and ages of wearers, and this is explained with examples.
