Toasty Tushy leggings
Any standard gauge machine with ribber or two beds may be used. That includes Passaps, Superbas, Brothers, Singers and those KnitKings that are like Brothers. Older KnitKings sometimes have ribbers that only have every other needle and they cannot be used. This is because the pattern depends on full needle rib for its stretch. In this stitch, every needle on both beds is working. Full needle rib cannot be made in the heaviest yarn that the machine can handle. It must be pretty thin. I swatched 6 yarn combinations that worked well, including the use of lycra to give the fit improved memory. The sample was made on a Superba at stitch size 3/3. Other machines will get the gauge at similar stitch sizes but numbers from 2-5 are possible, depending on model. Your swatches should be pulled lengthwise, then allowed to relax before measuring.
This pattern is part of the book “Oohlala”. the table of contents for the entire book is below.
