Top Tee - a tee for Banksi

This tee is named after our newest grandchild , Banksi , who was born just before Christmas . Around this time fires started to devastate large areas of NSW Australia , in particular the Blue Mountains and the NSW South Coast . Banksia plants symbolise a new beginning after bush fires , so I’m donating 100% of sales from this new pattern to my local Rural Fire Brigade .

This baby jumper is based on one Mum and I made for my children from a magazine about thirty years ago .

It’s also been popular with my grandchildren as it’s easy for parents to pop it on over a onesie to provide an extra bit of warmth on chilly mornings .

I’ve adapted it into a seamless pattern . It’s knitted from the bottom up and backwards and forwards until the three needle bind off for the shoulders . Sleeves are added with tiny circular needles . The sleeves are short but probably reach to a baby’s elbow .
The whole garment has a lot of positive ease . That’s why it’s a top tee .

I found the medium size the most useful , but it depends on the size of the baby and the season you’re knitting it for .
