Both the hat and the cowl are worked in the round. The cowl is started with a 2x2 rib, to create a deep border, with the wrap stitches being introduced in a staggered way so that a zigzag is worked in the textured wrap stitch. The hat has a turned back cuff in rib, then the wrap stitch pattern is worked until the crown shaping and is finished with a pompom.
