These covers will protect the foam, and surface material, of your headphone ear cups, without covering the sound source. No interference with sound delivery.

The pattern is easy and quick, with no seaming, so it makes a great last-minute gift. It uses very little yarn so dig out your scraps.

I used a large gauge (5/8”) 24 peg Knifty Knitter style knitting loom. The yarns for the various covers shown are worsted weight cotton for the yellow, green and red covers and doubled sport weight acrylic yarns for the others. Both types of yarn worked well.

These covers are for over-ear headphones with open centre ear cups. I made them for the Sony Studio Monitor headphones, but they also fit our Phillips SHP 2500s. The drawstring CO adjusts to small changes in size. They can also very easily be made smaller or bigger in the construction. The pattern includes suggestions for size changes.

The Studio Monitor headphone ear pieces are 8 cm across, 10 cm tall, 2.5 cm deep on the outside, and 1.5 cm deep in the ear cup. Or, if you are not metric: 3 1/4” across, 4” tall, 1” deep on the outside, and 5/8” deep in the ear cup.

The Phillips are 9.5 cm in radius, 2 - 2.5 cm deep on the outside, and 2 - 2.5 cm deep in the ear cup. Or, 3 3/4” in radius, 3/4 - 1” deep on the outside, and 3/4 - 1” deep inside the ear cup.
