When I came to Alberta to finally meet them for the first time, Tracie asked me to design a shawl inspired by her sister, so I did! But I also surprised her designing one for herself. I wasn’t feeling so creative, so I named it Tracie.

Tracie is a modern triangular shawl, with short rows that make it asymmetrical, and with a very deep V. It’s designed to show off your beautiful work and yarn, but it can also be worn all scrunched up around your neck.

The yarns I used can be replaced with any heavy weight fingering weight. Some testers have used lighter weight and heavier weight yarns, and it looks equally nice with these options.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
72 inches (180 cm) from side to side and 36 inches (75 cm) from top to bottom at deepest point (after blocking).

MATERIALS
Yarn: Heavy fingering weight yarn in 2 different colors.
Color A: Approx. 440 yards (400 m). Shown in Adam & Eve by River City Yarns (80% Merino/10% Cashmere/10% Nylon - 115g/355 yards) in colorway Silver.
Color B: Approx. 360 yards (330 m). Shown in Socks that Rock Lightweight by Blue Moon Fiber Arts (100% Merino - 146g/405 yards) in colorway Heckley Speckley.
Needles: US 6 (4 mm) needles.
Other notions: Tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires.

GAUGE
17.5 st and 40 rows to 4” (10cm) in garter st on US 6 (4 mm) needles after blocking.
