TRÁDA TAM

Reconstructed from vintage photographs of Donegal fishermen, the Tráda Tam is a compact, sturdy beret with an extra-deep tapering brim. Knitted in chunky tweed at a firm
gauge, the structured fabric enables the hat to keep its dapper shape no matter how rough the winds get at sea.

And did you know, that the original purpose of the pom-pom was to serve as a
bumper? It was meant to protect sailors and fishermen from hitting their heads on
the boom, and on the low ceilings of cabins. As is often the case, elements of design that we now think of as purely decorative,
tend to have practical origins. In a playful and wearable way, the Tráda Tam
honours that connection.
