The Train to Maine pullover is a saddle-shoulder design with a slipstitch colorwork front and solid stockinette back, with waist shaping. Lacy tracks ribbing trims the neckband, saddle strips, ¾-length sleeves and bottom hem edge. All pieces are worked flat; stitch patterns are written and charted.

The Train to Maine mini collection (pullover and hat) was:
--designed by a native Mainer (me!) with contrast yarn created by a Maine indie dyer (Heather, of Highland Handmades)
--modeled by a lovely Maine girl
--photographed by another native Mainer (whom I randomly met one snowy day as she was shooting fashion on a rarely traveled lake road)
--and named for the journey that brought me, full circle, back home

NOTE for YARN SUBSTITUTION
This sweater is a great stashbuster for fingering/sock yarn--the sample shown (size 35¾“) used roughly 140 yd/128 m for the contrast color on the Front. If you’re getting the stated gauge, the following quantities should be sufficient for the remaining sizes (152, 176, 188, 200, 212, 236) yd/128 (139, 161, 172, 183, 194, 216) m.

GAUGE
22 stitches & 32 rows = 4” in Thorn Pattern with larger needle, after blocking
22 stitches & 32 rows = 4” over St st with larger needle, after blocking

The Thorn pattern and Stockinette are never worked on the same piece of knitting, so you can use a different size needle on the front and back to obtain correct gauge.
