The Train to Maine pullover is a saddle-shoulder design with a slipstitch colorwork front and solid stockinette back, with waist shaping. Lacy tracks ribbing trims the neckband, saddle strips, ¾-length sleeves and bottom hem edge. All pieces are worked flat; stitch patterns are written and charted.

The Train to Maine mini collection (pullover and hat) was:
--designed by a native Mainer (me!) with contrast yarn created by a Maine indie dyer (Heather, of Highland Handmades)
--modeled by a lovely Maine girl
--photographed by another native Mainer (whom I randomly met one snowy day as she was shooting fashion on a rarely traveled lake road)
--and named for the journey that brought me, full circle, back home

FINISHED DIMENSIONS
35¾ (39⅟₄, 43¾, 47⅟₄, 51¾, 55⅟₄, 59¾)“/91cm (99.75, 111, 120, 131.25, 140.25, 141.75) garment circumference at bust. Suggested Ease: 1 to 2” positive ease
Sample shown is size 35¾” with +2” ease on model

MATERIALS
Photographed in Milla Mia Naturally Soft Merino with Highland Handmades Sugar Maple Sock

Main Color (MC)—MillaMia Naturally Soft Merino (100% extrafine merino, 137yd/125m, 1.76oz/50g) in #121 Putty 8 (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15) balls

Contrast Color (CC)—Highland Handmades Sugar Maple Sock (75% superwash wool, 25% nylon, 425yd/388m, 3.5oz/100g) in Storm Warning 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1) skein

NOTE for YARN SUBSTITUTION
This sweater is a great stashbuster for fingering/sock yarn--the sample shown (size 35¾“) used roughly 140 yd/128 m for the contrast color on the Front. If you’re getting the stated gauge, the following quantities should be sufficient for the remaining sizes (152, 176, 188, 200, 212, 236) yd/128 (139, 161, 172, 183, 194, 216) m.

GAUGE
22 stitches & 32 rows = 4” in Thorn Pattern with larger needle, after blocking
22 stitches & 32 rows = 4” over St st with larger needle, after blocking

The Thorn pattern and Stockinette are never worked on the same piece of knitting, so you can use a different size needle on the front and back to obtain correct gauge.

Thank you to Wendy (pennywenny) for her terrific tech-editing on this pattern.
