The story of the pipe, that opens up and transforms into a piece of clothing, is an interesting story. The pipe, which is widened on one side and by doing that creates a sweater, a tunic, a bolero. The garter stitch could have been created by working the entire piece back and forth and seaming the sleeves/sides at the end, but then it would no longer be a pipe opening up, it would be a folded piece of knitting, which in this case isn’t interesting and is uninspired and a completely different story.
