Set sail with the Captain and Ship’s Mate in search of treasure, but make sure you watch out for sharks! This set of pirate toys also make super knitted ornaments or desk buddies. The pattern includes the two pirates (the Captain with their parrot, and Ship’s Mate wearing an eye patch), a treasure island, treasure chest, and log raft with a Jolly Roger flag. These toys are knitted predominantly in stockinette stitch, with increases and decreases for shaping.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

These toys require attention to detail in finishing, so if you are not a fan of seaming/finishing this may not be the project for you.

A pair of 3.25mm single pointed knitting needles (US 3).

Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour (some shades only require oddments of yarn).

Tapestry needle, toy filling, beads, sequins, embroidery thread, bamboo skewer, cardboard and felt fabric.

One size only - The dolls are 10cm tall, the treasure island is 13cm diameter x 13cm tall, the treasure chest is 4.5cm tall x 5cm wide x 3cm deep, the log raft is 8cm long x 13cm tall (including the mast).

For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
