Treescape Hat
For a day in the sun and cold, is there any place where functional fashion is more important than in a “beat the cold” hat? Treescape Hat overlays gorgeous lace trees on a silky background. The inner hat knit in your favorite “beat the cold” fiber, shown in temperature-regulating silk, keeps the noggin cozy while the outer hat brings the delights of life in the woodlands. Styles include both a slouchy and a
beanie!
The tech edited and test knit intermediate-level pattern is fully written and charted with 3 how-to videos.

Special Notes:
* Count It: the Treescape Hat bounces between double stranding and single stranding. When
working both colors at once each double stranded MCAC st is counted as 1 st. All st pairs of 1
AC and 1 MC are counted as 1 st together. When working “Interior Hat” and “Exterior Hat” all
sts are single stranded and each one is counted individually.
- Customize It: want to invert MCAC with MC and AC? Check out the charted tutorial on page 8.
- Mark It: slip markers as you come to them.
- Work It: the double layer technique used in the crown is similar to double knitting, but there are no purls. Be sure not to cross your yarns. To work - move the exterior yarn (MC) forward, knit the interior stitch (AC), move the exterior yarn backward and knit the exterior stitch (MC). Repeat.
- Weave It In: if you add another ball of MC yarn, be sure to weave in your ends before rejoining MC and AC on the same needle. After rejoining, the space between the layers is no longer accessible.
- Watch It: o Stitch in Focus Alternating Cable Cast On found on the Knit Eco Chic blog o Double Layer Knitting on the Knit Eco Chic blog o Rejoin video tutorial on the Knit Eco Chic blog
