Triangles Doll House Afghan
I developed this afghan from the Triangles stitch pattern in Knitting Counterpanes… by Mary Walker Phillips. The yarn overs occur mainly between a knit and purl stitch, so make sure your yarn overs aren’t too tight. The wrong-side rows are simple knit and purl stitches. I recommend a light-colored thread and a hands-free magnifier to work the stitches. The dollhouse bed in the photo is 6.75” long by 5” wide: equivalent to a queen-size bed.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, SKP (slip-knit-PSSO) and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern unless a particular dollhouse-sized afghan is desired. Any block-able thread will work. Although this project used cotton thread, rayon and silk threads are especially nice for miniature projects due to their drape. Make a swatch to check size and appearance.
160 to 180 yards of Sulky’s Cotton Petites will make this 4.25” by 5.25” blocked afghan in the stated gauge. A 300m spool will make 1 afghan.
