This pattern includes two designs--hat and cowl--with instructions for DK and worsted weight yarns. To make both hat and cowl requires between 110-130 yards each of two colors. For best results, select one variegated and one solid color.

The hat and cowl shown in the pattern were knit with Berrocco Vintage DK (dark blue) and Hayfield Spirit (variegated).

This is an excellent stash buster.

The colorwork is relatively easy. The rolled edge is worked with the solid color in smaller needles.

GAUGE:
US 7/4.5 mm needles (DK yarn), 20 sts & 28 rows = 4”/10 cm.
US 8/5 mm needles (Worsted yarn): 17-18 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm.

Another option: Use 5-6 colors with one or two as the main color and the other three or four as contrast colors.
