Tribal Tote
Pattern now available as a pdf from my Ravelry Pattern Store here
THIS BOLD FELTED DESIGN IS CREATED BY USING MODULAR KNITTING TECHNIQUES.
AFTER MAKING THE FIRST SQUARE EACH SUBSEQUENT SQUARE IS ADDED USING A COMBINATION OF CASTING ON AND PICKING UP STITCHES. THE VARIEGATED COLOURING IN THE MAIN SHADE HAS BEEN USED TO CREATE THE STRIPED MOTIFS WITH ODD STRIPES OF CONTRAST COLOURS ADDED TO CREATE FLASHES OF INTEREST.
AFTER FELTING (FULLING) THE DESIGN IS FINISHED WITH A PAIR OF SIMPLY SHAPED WOODEN HANDLES,
ATTACHED WITH LEATHER THRONGING TO PICK UP ON THE ‘TRIBAL’ VIBE.
ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO COMPLICATED SHAPING USED THIS DESIGN IS AIMED AT INTERMEDIATE KNITTERS AND UPWARDS DUE TO THE REPEATED PICKING UP OF STITCHES AND THE CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE.
