Work the generous half-circle Trillium Shawl from the top down and finish with a dramatic perpendicular edging. The semicircular shape is achieved with six increases worked within the lace patterning across each fourth row.

Yarn Anzula Squishy (80% superwash merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 385 yd 352 m/4 oz 115 g): madam, 2 skeins.

Needles Size 6 (4 mm): 32” circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Blocking Notes This shawl requires severe blocking. Shawl will not block properly if the lace edge worked is too tight or does not have enough joins.
Follow the tips given below to get a well blocked shawl:-

  1. Work more joins - pattern calls for 1:1 join, try 2:3 ratio, i.e. 3 rows of edge over 2 live stitches.
  2. For lace edge only, use knitting needles one size larger than the ones used for shawl body.
  3. Double block the shawl - Work the shawl body, block it with live stitches and work the lace edge on this blocked shape with enough joins to keep the shawl body shape intact. Re-block the whole shawl again.
